What our guests say

We originally booked two nights at Belvedere Cottage but enjoyed it so much we stayed another night. Our host Roy was more than helpful with great suggestions of what to see and do as well as where to eat. We followed all his advice and are having a great holiday if we could take him with us as our guide we gladly would the cottage met all our needs beautiful, clean and homely. He helped us book our next night in Port Alfred and that was great too.

We visited Port Elizabeth recently to partake in an equestrian event and booked into Belvedere Cottage.
The cottage is fully equipped and there is secure parking. The area is very charming and we felt very safe. This is the earliest suburb of the city and is full of beautiful historic buildings.

Richmond Hill, the neighborhood has undergone a revival since our last visit to PE. It is now trendy, "vibey" and a hip neighborhood with some of the best restaurants in the city.
We enjoyed the best pizza's alfresco style at, Charlie Super Star in the famous Stanley Street. There we were thrilled to see our first "flash mob", which involved multitudes of patrons from the various restaurants, suddenly in synchronized formation provided great entertainment. On inquiry, this happens at random.
This alternative suburb is great fun and clearly is the new tourist "it" place to be in Port Elizabeth.
Thank you to the helpful staff at Belvedere Cottage. Highly recommended.

We stayed here recently for a couple of nights whilst in PE. The property is set in the old town, parts of which are being thriving areas again. The cottage we had (#15) was very comfortable, with a lounge/kitchen, bedroom, en suite and a pretty private courtyard. Also an attached garage. Just a few minutes walk away is a delightful collection of restaurants and cafés, serving meals throughout the day.

The owner, Roy, is the star of the show though! After meeting us and checking us in, he advised on the local area and then drove us round the city for an impromptu tour. He was born and bred in the PE area and lived in the city for many years. He is very enthusiastic and knowledgable about his city and it was a pleasure spending time with him.

One is spoilt for choice when looking for accommodation in Port Elizabeth but luckily for us we chose to stay at Doncaster Cottage. What a great find. The cottage is beautifully furnished and very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. There is also secure off street parking. Roy is the perfect host and made us feel so welcome. He went out of his way to show us where the best restaurants and shops in the area are. We will definitely be back and will recommend to all our family and friends. Thank you Roy

"Delightful accommodation in good location for our needs”
Belvedere Cottage is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. our accommodation consisted of 2 bedrooms.( 1 bed accommodation is also available we did not see those cottages). One bedroom was en suite and the other had its own bathroom with access to a very pretty and private garden. There is also a living room and well equipped kitchen/diner for self catering purposes. For the time we were there it seems like a home from home. The value was excellent for the two of us but 4 can easily be accommodated.

The location is close to several good restaurants all within very easy walking distance. The e]area was safe and quiet . The cottage was also within walking distance of old PE sites such as the Donkin trail but otherwise a car or taxi is needed to get to the beach or further afield.

Roy was a very helpful host and gave us an unexpected but interesting tour around PE, a city he clearly loves.

I would recommend Belvedere to asnyone staying in PE - much better than an impersonal hotel.

Great Stay!

Belvedere Cottage is centrally located, accommodation is private and the garden provides a nice backdrop to your stay. Clean, comfortable and safe. Located close to good restaurants. Will stay there again.

Belvedere cottage is a real gem. Beautifully appointed, many special touches, a tranquil garden to have your morning coffee. Just minutes to walk to a variety of wonderful restaurants. We exported Port Elizabeth after getting the "lay of the land" touring by car with our charming and knowledgable host. His love for this place is palpable. We came home to a spotless space and my clothes had been ironed! Don't miss this one if you are visiting PE.

Perfectly Situated!

Not only is Doncaster Cottage perfectly situated for sightseeing around Port Elizabeth, it's a lovely building with careful attention to decor. We booked both Doncaster Mews and Doncaster Cottage. The cottage is a very spacious one bedroom unit and we had access to a patio that connected us to our friends who stayed in the Mews, a comfortable studio unit. But the best part of the stay was the staff. They were warm, friendly, and created a family atmosphere. Nothing was a problem and we were surprised with a complimentary tour of the historic centre of the city. This level of hospitality must be acknowledge as it is very rare these days. We will recommend them to all our friends.
