German culture comes to Port Elizabeth
The Oktoberfest in Port Elizabeth will be where it all happens this October.
The four day festival in Port Elizabeth promises to be an authentic celebration of German food, beer, music and tradition.
The event has its origin in 1810 when King Ludwig the First ordered all his subjects to join him in marking his marriage to Theresa of Saxony. Now 205 years later, German culture is celebrated around the world from the last weekend of September until the last weekend of October.
Madiba Bay's much anticipated Oktoberfest kicks in to high gear at the German Club in Lorraine with a corporate evening on Thursday, 22 October. The festival continues throughout the weekend with a special performance by Austrian oompah band Atterseer Musikanten on Friday evening.
